Prior to my role as the Director of TRiO Programs, I served in several supervisory capacities where I became skilled at: grant writing, budget management, program management and evaluation, research methods, staff development, and most importantly, enhancing student learning, academic success and personal growth through engagement. Over the past seven years, I was prepared for my current position via the following roles:

  • Director of the Student Achievement Center (Memphis, TN)– Partnered with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, as well as, Admissions & Enrollment to implement effective academic advising policies, practices, and programming for undergraduate students that was conducive to the academic, social, and professional goals of each student.  In this role, my department also prioritized addressing institutional attrition, retention, and graduation issues as it pertained to academic advising. Additionally, I served as an adjunct instructor and member of the College’s accreditation committee.
  • Associate Director for Upward Bound (Chicago, IL) – Acted as the primary liaison between high school and college admission administrators, parents, and community representatives to assess the social and academic needs of first-generation/low-income students. With an ultimate goal of preparing high school students to enter a collegiate institution and graduate, developed supplemental curriculum and programming to increase academic abilities, test scores, cultural competency and perception of program participants.

  • Educational access, retention, matriculation, and graduation of first generation, low-income and/or traditionally underrepresented student populations


My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending sporting events and various cultural activities, participating in basketball and racquetball, real estate, and research.
