ND TRiO lends a helping hand to the Salvation Army

Bringing in the holiday season, ND TRiO provided a few helping hands to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Gift Move. Despite the wintery mix, ND TRiO Scholars were layered with winter essentials to share a little holiday cheer. Initially, scholars believed Angel Tree was simply an effort to provide disadvantaged children with toys for the Christmas season. However, when learning that the Angel Tree is a program that helps to strengthen and restore relationships with incarcerated parents and their children, the true meaning of the season came to life. “I can’t imagine being without my mom during the holidays or any other day. This reminds you to appreciate and value the presence of those around you…we take so much for granted,” said Aniyah Johnson. By the end of the event, scholars assisted with packing and loading over seven moving trucks filled with toy donations for those in need.  From our TRiO family to yours,  Happy Holidays!
