In the midst of Georgia’s summer heat, scholars of ND TRiO ventured to Atlanta for the inaugural Disruptive Innovation Summit, presented by entertainer, Usher Raymond and General Electric. Taking place at the new SunTrust Park Atlanta Braves Stadium, over 300 youth leaders gathered to explore global issues while discussing innovative and creative solutions to create positive impact. Throughout the event, Disruptivators, individuals who use “their unique spark or passion, combined with innovative thinking, to create change in the world,” engaged in dialogue regarding global issues while discussing attainable and sustainable solutions. “This was amazing to see. To hear people my age with similar goals and visions is exciting. The solutions to today’s problems are in this room, that’s inspiring,” said rising Talent Search senior, Diamond Adams. To maintain the energy, disruptivators had the opportunity to meet and greet with Grammy-awarding winning entertainer, Usher Raymond.
To conclude the excursion, scholars toured the Atlanta University Center Consortium (Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College) as well as, local historical sites.
