On April 2-5, 2017 the Notre Dame Talent Search Program took its spring break trip to Texas. Twenty eight students visited the University of Texas-Austin, the University of Texas-Arlington (which has 40,000 students), and Paul Quinn College. One of our sightseeing stops was a tour of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which cost a billion dollars to construct. This amazing tour included a visit to the players and cheerleaders locker rooms and field access. We also visited the Inner Space Cavern which was an ancient cave discovered during a highway project. Yes there were bats and one decided to do a flyover…which was not part of the tour. We also visited the Dallas Zoo which is considered one of the best zoos in the country. On our visit to the Galleria Mall we encountered four levels of stores and a skating rink. We ate at a variety of restaurants including Cajun,(which included alligator tail on the menu), Mexican, Texas Barbecue, and a must go visit to a Whattaburger. We also visited a famous Czech Bakery that is located in a small town outside of Waco. Great weather, great college visits, great sightseeing and some great memories.
