ND Upward Bound Refunded for another five years!

For the past 51 years, ND Upward Bound has provided the South Bend community with access to post-secondary education. Today, the pursuit of access, equity, and excellence continues… ND Upward Bound has been refunded for another five years!

The University of Notre Dame’s Upward Bound program was one of 1,592 eligible colleges and organizations to receive a funding to provide and promote college preparation resources for local students. ND Upward Bound will receive $463,898.00 annually for a total grant award of $2.3 million over the next five years.

Currently, ND Upward Bound serves approximately 104 high school students providing academic tutoring/advisement, SAT/ACT preparation, career exploration, securing financial aid, cultural enrichment, community service, and college tours. Since its inception, ND Upward Bound has served over 2,000 students in the South Bend community. Rafael Marin, Associate Director of Upward Bound (for 16 years and counting) stated, “Administrators of the Upward Bound program exemplified leadership – even in the most turbulent of times – to produce a grant that will continue to help students within the community. I am proud to be a member of such an amazing team.” TRiO Director, Ethan Zagore echoes his sentiments, “We have two amazing programs (Talent Search & Upward Bound), exceptional students, engaged staff and a supportive community. TRiO Works!”

Cheers to the continued pursuit of excellence!

Congratulations ND TRiO!
