On February 25th, the University of Notre Dame’s TRIO Programs hosted its 15th Annual Student & Parent Leadership Conference in celebration of National TRIO Day. Annually, National TRIO Day is an effort to bring awareness to the needs of first-generation, low-income students while celebrating the accomplishments of TRIO participants.
To welcome attendees, local, institutional, and state representatives provided proclamations focusing on purpose, ambition, and excellence. To maintain the energy, Jewell Jones, Michigan’s youngest state representative, provided the nearly 300 attendees with a "template" for leaders in training.
During the day’s celebration, attendees engaged in concurrent sessions that included, but were not limited to college and career readiness, financial planning, time-management, branding, and college admissions. To conclude the event, Renata Hannans, author and youth advocate delivered a very personable presentation about dreams and Priscilla Quaye, a Notre Dame TRIO Upward Bound alumna and member of Notre Dame’s Class of 2018, concluded the event highlighting the "TRiO Impact."
A special thanks to all attendees, sponsors, supporters, as well as community and educational partners.
