Mayor's Student Scholar Reception

For most scholars, a recognition of their commitment to academics is often highlighted at each of their respective schools among their peers, parents, and administrators. However, to further celebrate the academic accomplishments of South Bend’s Class of 2018 high school graduates, Mayor Pete Buttigieg hosted a Student Scholar Reception at the Studebaker National Museum recognizing valedictorians, salutatorians, National Merit Scholars Finalists, National Achievement Program for Hispanic Students, National Achievement Program for Negro Students, Lugar Scholars, Wells Scholars, Hoosier Scholars, Presidential Scholars Finalists and Lilly Endowment winners.

Alongside principals and members of all eight South Bend high schools, Mayor Pete Buttigieg congratulated each scholar while encouraging them to remember their South Bend roots. "South Bend has a lot at stake in whatever is next for you," Buttigieg said. "As you go on to college, as you go on to the workforce, we hope that even if you find yourself temporarily drawn away from this geography, that you'll consider coming home sooner or later, and even if you are somewhere else, that you keep South Bend in your equation."

Congratulations to all ND TRiO recipients.
