Established to create a meaningful, lasting tribute honoring the legacy of Charles E. Martin, Sr., the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County offers the Charles Martin “Touch a Life” Scholarship Program.

The Charles Martin “Touch a Life” Scholarship provides local, academically strong African-American students with tuition assistance and meaningful workplace experience through community entities. Upon completion of the 250-hour internship, scholarship recipients are eligible for up to $7,500 annually, including a $2,500 internship stipend and up to $5,000 in tuition assistance. The scholarship is renewable up to four years.

For the 2017-2018 academic year, two TRiO participants were gifted with the “Touch a Life” Scholarship. While Devanna Hardin (Upward Bound) and Chantel Hardin (Talent Search) are both TRiO alumna, they also happen to be first cousins.

Congratulations, Devanna & Chantel!
